THE CONTENT BELOW IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
No, we do not take ourselves seriously, but some rules must exist in order for the ADR experience to be pleasant and somewhat less chaotic.
Below is a set of basic, not-so-strict rules that one has to follow in order to be a functioning member of ADR.
Behavior
- Don't be an asshole. Just don't. Respecting others is cool. Saying stuff that is obviously racist, homophobic, triggering, etc. will get you banned. No joke. Try it (don't).
- Keep discussions relevant. For example: don't talk about what you had for breakfast in the ADF Draft Feedback forum category. There's Open Topic for that.
- Be civilized when arguing. Arguing is 100% tolerated here as long as it's done in a mature and civil way. Also, don't start arguments for the sake of starting arguments. Very simple.
- Give reasoning for your comments. Don't tell someone their article sucks and not elaborate. That's just stupid.
- NSFW/NSFL content outside of ADF articles. If you absolutely must post NSFW stuff, said content is allowed only in the NSFW forum category.
- You may do only a small amount of trolling. If it's a harmless joke and no damage is done, fine. However, acting with malicious intent towards an individual or a group of people will not be tolerated.
- Don't raid. Raiding other sites/communities/groups is lame and is very likely to get all participants banned.
- Don't spam. Please don't spam. Anywhere. Thank you.
- Don't vandalize the site. Dumb to even mention this here as it's pretty obvious.
Interacting with the ADR Team (and moderators)
- PM them only if absolutely necessary. If it's just to ask a question, there's a forum category for that.
- Be respectful towards the team. As with each other, be respectful towards the people running this site.
- Don't mini-mod. Let us do our job. If there's a problem and you need our attention, or you want to apply for site moderator, PM a moderator from the Member List, or PM
Zenion directly.
- Don't ask to become a member of the ADR Team. You will never become a member of the ADR Team. Cry about it.
Writing
- Use the writing forum appropriately. Use the right category for the right reason.
- Elaborate on your rating. If giving an article a low rating, make sure to give a reason as to why you've done so.
- Use the provided warning for NSFW/NSFL and 18+ content. Said content is allowed if related to writing. However, using images and other forms of media that depict serious illegal content will result in an immediate ban.
- Give actually helpful feedback. All users are allowed to review and critique Ideas and Drafts as long as they offer helpful information and don't disrespect the writer. Feedback that is not helpful in any way will be deleted.
- Editing articles:
- You are allowed to edit your own articles, just don't remove any required parts.
- You may edit others' articles if you wish to correct any grammar, spelling, or technical mistakes. Do not change the actual content without the author's permission. Make sure to write the changes you've made in the "Short description of changes:" section after editing.
Punishments and Appeals
Currently, there are three forms of punishment:
- Warning - Verbal message telling you to stop being an asshole.
- Membership revocation - Your site membership will be revoked, but you may apply again.
- Ban - You will lose access to this site, but you may appeal for a ban revocation.
- Permanent Ban - This one is pretty bad.
Minor inconveniences on the site can cause a verbal Warning from a mod/admin/Zenion himself if you're lucky.
Continuing the inappropriate behavior after getting a Warning will result in a Membership revocation, and if you somehow still don't learn from your past mistakes, you will suffer a Ban.
Certain actions will cause you to get an instant Ban with the ability to appeal.
Some truly fucked up actions will give you a Permanent Ban without the ability to appeal.
Appealing:
Currently, if you wish to have your Ban revoked, you must message Zenion himself (Sorry if I sound narcissistic when saying "Zenion himself" like I'm some powerful entity or something, I just think it sounds funny) with a formal apology and a reason for your Ban to be revoked.
After getting your Ban revoked, you will be in "Heavy Monitoring Mode" for a week, during which your behavior will be monitored more frequently and any inappropriate actions will result in a Permanent Ban.
After "Heavy Monitoring Mode" ends, your punishment process will reset and you will not be constantly monitored, all the time, 24/7 (we know where you live).
