Newbie Guide

WELCOME, NEWBIE!

Below is the most simple and easy-to-understand guide for first-time users one can make.

ESSENTIAL STEPS

  • STEP 1: Read the General Info. It contains fictional lore info in the "ADR Info" tab and non-fictional site info in the "Wiki Info" tab (the FAQ page is also recommended, but it's empty now since nobody really asks frequent questions lol).
  • STEP 2: Read the Rules. Try to follow them if you're planning on sticking around for a while.
  • STEP 3: Join the Site! If you like what you see, become an official ADR member!
  • STEP 4: Check out the ESSENTIAL TERMS below:

ESSENTIAL TERMS

  • Anomaly Data Room (ADR) — The name of this site and the fictional organization behind it.
  • Anomaly — Anything that deviates from what's standard, normal, or expected.
  • Anomaly Data File (ADF) — The name used for documents describing and researching an anomaly. The anomaly itself can also be referred to as an "ADF". An ADF will always be followed by a number (eg, ADF-10) to keep things nice and tidy.
  • ADR Team — The fictional team behind ADR responsible for everything that happens in and around it. They are responsible for reviewing ADFs and acting accordingly. They are also silly little goofballs.
  • Related Interest Group (RIG) — Any specific group/branch that is in some way connected to The ADR Organization.
  • ██████ Inc. — Informally called "Shady Inc." by the ADR Team. The secret shadow government organization that funds and supports all ADR operations, its staff, equipment, and real estate. Almost nothing is known about it, and it never makes decisions for ADR; it simply observes.
  • Danger Class — Used to describe how dangerous the anomaly is. These are, from least to most dangerous, Utile, Limen, Gula, Ira, Haeres and Perfidia.
  • Obscurity Class — Used to describe the level of weirdness and complexity of an anomaly. These are, from least to most obscure, Tetra, Hexa, Octa, Dodeca and Icosa.
  • Subclass — Special, specific classes used to explain certain anomalies better. These are Eleutheria, Evorsus, Vexillum and Aliquam. Thank you, MrpickyMrpicky for coming up with these! :)

- More info on ADF Classes can be found HERE!!!.

  • Collection — The term used to describe the act of safely relocating an anomaly to a collection facility, officially approved by the ADR Team.
  • Collection Facility: — The general name for any building used by ADR to keep potentially hazardous anomalies from disrupting the peace, as well as studying them. Also used to house numerous donated anomalies from the common folk. These are always numbered (eg, Collection Facility #45).

WHAT TO DO NEXT?

Good question!
Well, you can start by reading Lazar's ADF-1 File to get the hang of things, then perhaps checking out the other ADF articles, or even consider writing your own!
I would also suggest checking out the Discussion Forums and getting comfortable with the community. We are all really nice and only slightly mentally ill. OH ALSO JOIN THE DISCORD!!!
